To get the most out of their last 12-inch laptop, a desktop processor
ASUS Atom pairs with Nvidia graphics Ion. The result was a notebook that
had a good game for his size but not the snappiest overall performance.
Now here comes the Eee PC 1215B ($ 439), which shares the same look as
the older 1215N, but change the ingredients of the 1.6 GHz AMD Fusion
E-350 APU. This pair of ultra-efficient chips faster processor with
graphics that can easily handle full HD video. ASUS also added a USB 3.0
port for super high-speed transfers. However, the 1215B is $ 30 cheaper
than its Intel counterpart. Check out below the full review to see how
1215B battery up to its predecessor, as well as other ultra fusion
power.
Design
Like its predecessor, the Eee PC 1215B has a
smooth matte black exterior, extending inland, with the exception of the
keyboard cover bright. Both the HP Pavilion dm1z (glossy black with
mesh design) and Sony VAIO YB (top Fuchsia Metallic) have more panache,
but you can spice up the ASUS to order in red for only $ 10.
Weighing 3.4 pounds, the 1215B is the same weight as the 1215N and dm1z
Pavilion, making it easy to carry. The YB VAIO weighs a little less than
3.2 pounds. At 11.6 x 7.9 x 0.9 to 1.4 inches, the Eee PC 1215B is also
the same size as its predecessor, which is approximately the same size
as the YB VAIO (11.4 x 8 x 1, 3 inches) and dm1z (11.4 x 8.4 x 0.8 -1.2
inches).
Keyboard and Touchpad
The keyboard of the Eee PC
chiclet 1215B is identical to the 1215N, which meant they were able to
write at a fast pace with few errors. However, the 1215N is flexing
lower right Shift and worrying at the base is here too. Among the
notebooks of similar size, we prefer the keyboard on the Lenovo ThinkPad
X120e, but the rest is bigger 1215B palm made it easier to write for an
extended period, such as dolls were not hanging off the edge.
We like the 1215B, 3.2 x 1.8 touchpad. It was soft and tender and the
largest farm real fact making multitouch gestures, such as pop-up zoom
and scroll with two fingers easier than other ultraportables. Text
selection was also a breeze.
Since we prefer the
discrete mouse buttons, we are not fans of the silver bar, just below
the touch screen. We found a little stiff at first but became easier the
more you use pressure.
Screen and audio
The bright, 12. 1
inch, 1366 x 768 pixels on the Eee PC 1215B is crisp and bright. The
Green Lantern trailer streaming of YouTube looks great in both 720 and
1080. The emerald green suit Ryan Reynolds was vibrant, and blacks were
deep and rich with no sign of pixelation. The viewing angles are narrow,
with colors washing at approximately 45 degrees. We had to tilt the
screen as far as possible - 40 degrees past vertical - for the best
vertical viewing angle.
The speakers located at the bottom
front of the 1215B produces a clear sound with good volume. The
synthesized instrumental Lady Gaga "Judas" and its unforgettable chorus
came through loud and clear, without distortion. As expected in a budget
system like this, just under this. It is recommended to keep the laptop
on a desk or hard surface, as we realized that the sound became deaf
when placing it in our lap.
Ports and webcam
A pleasant
surprise for a notebook of this price range, the Eee PC 1215B comes with
a high speed USB 3.0 port. With him on the right side is a USB 2. 0
port, Ethernet, headphone and microphone jacks, and a Kensington lock
slot. The left side houses another USB 2.0 port, HDMI, VGA port and a
card reader 2 in 1.
Pictures and videos taken with the webcam
integrated 0.3 megapixel ASUS implementing e-Cam were bright, but colors
appeared faded grainy even after adjusting the camera settings. As in
the 1215N, the slide chamber is above the webcam to ensure privacy.
Heat
The
ASUS Eee PC 1215B temperatures remained relatively cool during our
tests. After a Hulu video streaming at full screen for 15 minutes, we
measured the touchpad and keyboard at 86 degrees, and half of the
surface below 90 degrees. However, the HP Pavilion dm1z was even cooler,
remaining below 80 degrees in the same places.
