Motorola Ships 250,000 Xooms, Sells Even Fewer

marked the launch of Motorola's financial performance in the first quarter of this fiscal year. This document indicates that Motorola has sold more than 250,000 devices Xoom, while reporting a net loss for the same period of time.

It should be noted that there was no detail provided on the number of Xooms actually sold to consumers, only released into the canal. In fact, many reports indicate that there may be only 15,000 units sold.

By contrast, Apple released its financial results for the second quarter of its fiscal year ending March 2011 and is pleased to announce the sale of 4.7 million iPads during this time.

The Xoom is the first tablet to take advantage of the Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) of the platform and was considered the most significant threat to the IPAD to date. A specification in comparison makes the specification of the devices in a light very competitive with most critics praising the openness of the Android platform, but no underestimating the power of identity and elegance of IPAD. Consumers are attracted by it.

Before the release of IPAD 2, Xoom may have had a more than handy, but with the addition of dual cameras, faster processor and more slender profile, the IPAD 2 has closed the gap. Add to that the simplicity of hardware configurations, making it much easier for developers to deliver IOS solid, error-free applications, compared with the contingencies necessary for the development of the hardware options growing Android varied and becomes easy to see why more consumers get to Apple instead of Motorola.

Motorola should not be too hard on themselves. In comparison, Research in Motion (RIM) has also reported major financial losses after the launch of its mediocre tablet playbook, non-iOS/non-Android entering the mobile market.

One thing is certain: the standard specifications Xoom is a team to take into account and that will only make stronger IPAD in an effort to remain competitive.
